HDTVS: Transmission Signals of Up to 5X More!

HD transmission signals contain up to 5 times the picture information compared to standard definition pictures, which typically use just 500-600 horizontal lines of image pixels. High definition transmission uses 700 to 1000 lines, at its minimum. So an HD TV offers clearer and more detailed images since it contains more picture information. For example, check out the Samsung PN50B860 50 .

All television signals in varying formats are made up of picture elements called pixels which form the images you see. Using more of these pixels in high-definition transmission results to unmatched picture quality never seen before. Samsung LN52B750 LCD HDTV
